Orchestra Management
Information about the Committee and the management of the Orchestra
The Committee
The Sheffield Chamber Orchestra is managed by a Committee (all of them playing members) elected by the Orchestra members at the Annual General Meeting, plus the Conductor and Leader. Their term of office runs for one year, after which they may stand for re-election.
Committee responsibilities include the choice of programmes and soloists, obtaining the necessary music parts, booking of halls and soloists, paying bills, maintaining proper accounts, publicity, fund-raising, insurance, hiring extra players, concert management, liaison with Making Music, as well as other activities.
Most Committee members are in full-time work outside of the Orchestra. Any paid-up Orchestra member is eligible to serve on the Committee - around half of the current members have been on the Committee at one time or another. If you are a recently joined member, don't let that put you off approaching one of us, if you think you have skills and enthusiasm to offer.
